We are at a time when many are lovers of themselves and their ways but do not wish to receive the reward for their actions. People choose to walk in the path of hell but want to end in heaven.

This brings to my remembrance a conversation between God and Cain.

So, it happened that Cain killed his brother, Abel. Ironically, when God spelled out his punishment for shedding the blood of his brother, Cain cried out, saying, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.” And he even added, “…that everyone that finds me shall slay me.”

Then I keep wondering how a killer is afraid of being killed. It will also interest you to know that God did not add death to his punishment, but Cain was worried that death would also be added to the list, so he started whining.

In the same way, some are living in sin but do not want to be rewarded accordingly. Thus, they try to erase the inevitable pointers to hell with ignorant comments like: “If God is good, why will He create hell?” “They didn’t ask God to create them, so He can’t punish them for their sins!” “God does not exist!”

Yet, God exists, and there is hell. However, God did not create hell to put man in it. Hell is the eternal home designed for the devil, and anyone who chooses to follow his ways will follow him there. We must go God’s way and not do our own thing so as not to end in hell.

While others do not even care if there’s hell, they are unafraid of ending there. They think they have experienced enough of hell on earth already.

But the hell the Bible describes is not as lightly or funny as all these attitudes and talks suggest.

I know it can be challenging to hold onto the imagination of the existence of hellfire, and I don’t desire for anyone to end there either. But our sentiments and opinions cannot alter this fact.
